New Comers

Welcome to the Barony of Hidden Mountain!

Within the barony there are three subgroups (cantons) whose members not only participate in baronial events but also in their own local activities.

The Canton of Tear-Sea’s Shore covers the metropolitan Charleston area (Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties). For more  information about the Canton of Tear-Sea’s Shore, visit the canton  page or contact the canton’s Chatelaine, The Honorable Lady Jorunn nic Lochlainn (Cathie Brailey)

The Canton of Misty Marsh by the Sea is located in the metropolitan Florence area. For detailed information on activities in the Canton of Misty Marsh by the sea, visit the canton  page or contact the canton’s Chatelaine, Lady Samantha Hollman

The Canton of Moorhaven comprises Myrtle Beach, Conway and surrounding areas of coastal South Carolina. For more information on activities in the Canton of Moorhaven, visit the canton  page, or contact the canton’s Chatalain, Lady Slaine inghean ni Seachnasaigh

Please come to any of our Baronial or Canton meetings or events – we will do our best to make you feel comfortable.   If you want to attend an event and don’t have garb (medieval clothing), we have a loner closet called “Gold Key“.  Let the chatelaine of your group know in advance and some clothing will be available for you to use.

Joining the SCA provides you with some benefits, such as voting priviladges, access to Kingdom Newsletters as well as a reduced cost for events.   Online Membership Link

You don’t have to wait until a meeting or event to check us out.  Here are a few links that will introduce the SCA to you.

  1.  Some good info here about circlets and crowns – something I get confused about all the time.
  2.  Society for Creative Anachronism Newcomer’s Portal, this is an SCA wide site with lots of good information.
  3. Kingdom of Atlantia’s Chatelaine Page, the chatelaine is the person responsible for newcomers’ relations.  If you want to know something this is the person to start asking.  Our Moorhaven chatelaine’s contact information is at the bottom of this page.
  4. New members Information link.  More good information here.
  5. Titles in the SCA by the barony of Maarinus, (goes along with the circlets and crowns link well).
  6. Correct Title Usage for Addressing and Introducing –  by Countess Dulcia MacPherson, OL, OR
  7. Official rank and titles in the SCAHow to address peers properly
  8. An Unofficial Glossary of Terms As used in the SCA
